The Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institute of Forest Genetics takes part in the project PYROPHOB by recording the Fungi within the investigation areas as well as the interaction of Fungi with other groups of organisms. At the location in Waldsieversdorf the reconnaissances, which are conducted by a team of volunteers, are coordinated and evaluated. The found fungal fruitbodies are identified classically by mophology and by means of modern marker gene techniques. Additionally, the formation of mycorrhizas with selected trees and the interactions of fungal parasites with their host plants are investigated.
